Description of the itineraries

Upper Ring

Portofino Vetta is a panoramic area, where a very exclusive restaurant – hotel stands, the Portofino Kulm, that you also can reach walking along the two kilometre paved road starting in front of the beginning of this itinerary. The road is named after Sebastiano Gaggini, the financial backer of this hotel, built between 1903 and 1906, that soon become very fashionable thanks to the environmental value of this area. Lower Ring

Passing the barrier that block the access to the pathway by car, there are the great RAI television repeaters, that gives the name (Antenne) to the area; from here starts another path which takes you to an indescribable net of short routes that link the bellows areas. More information about>>

Nozarego - Portofino

This long and panoramic itinerary takes you through several environments connected to the countryside of Santa Margherita, Portofino and Paraggi, with many naturalist, historical-architectonical and human point of interests.
You rise along the signed Salita Montebello,  the road gradually becomes a path offering more and more panoramic views while going uphill. More information about>>

Paraggi - Portofino

It is a wonderful footpath that starts from the built-up area of Paraggi, passes through a strip of varied wood, prevalently made of holm-oaks, and proceeds not far from the national road which connects Santa Margherita Ligure to Portofino. More information about>>

San Rocco - Pietre Strette - San Fruttuoso

The route runs through the north-west side of Mt. Portofino and gradually passes from cultivated areas to abandoned fields and the woods. On the first part of the route you go along a mule track that rises by the church of San Rocco: the Nostra Signora della Salute Sanctuary. More information about>>

San Rocco - Punta Chiappa

This path is certainly one of the classical trek routes for families and groups, because of tis beauties and fame, not only concerning the Portofino Promontory, but the whole Liguria Region, even though it doesn’t have its own trail sign.
However, the itinerary is easily identifiable and well signposted by the Park signs. More information about>>

San Rocco - Batterie - San Fruttuoso

This is one of the more fascinating itineraries of the Promontory, with a panoramic view over the seaside and the coastline and many particular points of interest.
This is a difficult path, there are chains to facilitate the transit along the exposed sides, it isn’t recommended during hot summers and it is suitable only for expert and well trained excursionists. More information abut>>

San Rocco - Toca - Pietre Strette - San Fruttuoso

The itinerary, that starts from the San Rocco parish Church yard, develops along the western side of Mt. Portofino and is mostly easy, panoramic and leads to other routes. The easy and flat mule track runs through the Poggio and Mortola areas and becomes a tortuous path departing from the houses, and reaches the sloping ridge from Mt. Portofino to the Semaforo Nuovo area. More information about>>

Portofino Vetta - Monte Portofino

This itinerary runs along a large and easy rising pathway, through the wood that covers the northern side of the Promontory as far as its summit, at the maximum height, permitting some naturalistic observations. You immediately find many cypress and silver-fir but the black hornbeam is however the predominant vegetation along the whole route. There also chestnut and downy-oak tree in the lower part.
